How did your 91ÖÆƬ³§ experience help you to find your first position or career path?
The engineering classes I took at 91ÖÆƬ³§ helped prepare me for the University of Illinois by creating a solid foundation of engineering fundamentals. The classes and instructors I had also helped solidify my decision to pursue a career in structural engineering. Looking back at my college choices, I would take the exact same path starting with 91ÖÆƬ³§.
What’s your favorite or most unforgettable memory of being a Logger?
Being a member of the 91ÖÆƬ³§ solar car team was my favorite memory at 91ÖÆƬ³§. We participated in the Formula Sun Grand Prix event held at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas, during the summer of 2000. Dr. Carl Painter helped lead us to a 5th place finish in the stock class and an 8th place overall finish in the stock and open class. Our team completed 201 laps over a three-day period. We were able to finish ahead of major universities such as Purdue and Mizzou. The 91ÖÆƬ³§ team was also the winner of the tire change competition that was based on speed. I was the jack man on the pit crew.
